Our Story

Welcome to Trinkets by Trace.

Every piece in our collection begins the same way — with a walk along the Southern California coast, eyes on the tideline, searching for the shells and small treasures the ocean leaves behind. What started as a love of the sea has grown into Trinkets by Trace, a handcrafted jewelry studio based in Laguna, California.

Each piece is designed and made by hand by Tracy Kelley, pairing natural abalone, cowrie shells, and freshwater pearls with carefully chosen findings. Because we work with real shells and natural materials, no two pieces are ever exactly alike — the swirl of color in an abalone shell or the curve of a cowrie is entirely its own. When you wear a piece from Trinkets by Trace, you’re wearing something genuinely one of a kind.

We believe jewelry should feel personal, a little wild, and connected to the natural world — whether it’s a statement necklace for a special evening or simple earrings for everyday. Each piece is made to carry a little of the coast with you wherever you go.
